Minot YP group celebrates past successes, invites new members
The Minot Young Professionals has kicked off a new year. Thanks to many sponsors, there have been opportunities over the past year to share educational, social, and community giving programs with our members.

More new faces are welcome at YP events. The monthly Power Hours are open to the public, offering speakers and lunch, which is typically $5 for members and $10 for nonmembers. The next event is Nov. 14 at noon at CHS SunPrairie.  Minot Area Development Corporation
CEO Stephanie Hoffart will be the guest speaker. Please RSVP by visiting ypminot.com and clicking on Events.

Social events are hosted at various times throughout the year to provide members with informal networking opportunities.  This past year, this included a Minotauros night, a curling night, a family evening at HighAir Ground, and each summer, an open golf scramble. Some of these same successful events are planned again for this year, plus a few new ones!

YP members love to give back to the community. Some of those activities have included ringing bells for the Salvation Army, partnering with the Lions Club to make Thanksgiving baskets for families in need, and volunteering for the United Way.  Each year YP members are responsible
for organizing Magic 60, a micro-grant program that helps Minot residents make an impact on the community. Additional sponsorships are always sought for this program to fund small programs that might not otherwise get funding. With the help of sponsors and additional contributions,
funding went to children’s museum exhibits for the Magic City Discovery Center, expression swings for oak Park, and the children’s program for the Domestic Violence Center.

This year, Hunger SNAP was sponsored to raise community awareness of local hunger and to raise funds for Minot food pantries. one of the YP leadership team members lived on $5 per day and documented her experience on the YP Facebook page. The YP organization was
able to donate over $7,000 to local food pantries through this campaign.  Thank you once again to all sponsors and members for making this possible in the last year. The 2017-2018 year promises to offer bigger and better events and programs.
