Plans
Agribusiness Committee
will analyze agriculture issues as they relate to the local economy, and
promote agribusiness by sponsoring events that enhance rural/urban relationships.
Ambassadors Committee,
the public relations arm of the Chamber, is involved in member recruitment,
First Dollar Awards, new member visitations, ribbon cutting and groundbreaking
ceremonies, Business After Hours and Showcase of Business.
Community Leadership
Institute Task Force will organize and conduct Community Leadership
Institute - a nine week educational program structured to develop community
awareness, volunteerism and leadership skills of emerging community leaders.
Diplomats Committee
will continue to act as part of the Chamber’s “outreach”
efforts and develop goodwill with surrounding communities.
Governmental Affairs Committee will:
- Conduct monthly meetings with federal, state and local officials as
speakers, legislative forums, and legislators’ luncheons following
elections.
- Support the ND State Fair funding request during the legislative session.
- Monitor and disseminate information on the legislative activities
of the US Chamber of Commerce.
- Conduct activities that involve and enhance the overall relationship
with elected officials.
- Monitor and inform the business community of pertinent legislative
issues.
- Assist in informing members of Congress of the importance of education
(K-12) impact aid.
- Partner with area communities on key legislative issues.
- Monitor federal and state policy changes for local impact.
Infrastructure Committee will:
- Involve city/county/state highway departments and other public transportation
carriers in Chamber meetings concerning infrastructure issues.
- Aggressively work to maintain and expand the level of air transportation
serving the Minot area.
- Provide input to the city regarding growth management plans and regulations.
- Inform the public of the condition of, funding for, and importance
of, quality infrastructure.
- Support and encourage the continuation of passenger rail service.
- Monitor the housing availability in Minot and Minot Air Force Base.
- Encourage full-time accessible and affordable public transportation,
including transportation for the individuals with disabilities, student
population, elderly and youth.
- Encourage traffic flow throughout the city that is uninterrupted by
railroad crossings.
- Support and encourage the development of a comprehensive plan that
provides all infrastructure and infrastructure maintenance on a timely
basis.
- Encourage regular coordinated meetings between city and county planning
officials.
Military Affairs Committee (MAC) will continue,
strengthen and enhance the relationship between the business community
and the military units stationed in the Minot area. The Military Affairs
Committee conducts monthly meetings with the military informing Minot
business leaders of current military issues. This committee has several
task forces designed to coordinate the following events to promote interaction
between the business community and the military units in the Minot area;
Honorary Commander Program, Sportsmen’s Feed, Golf Scramble, Military
Ball, Military Appreciation Events, Quarterly Awards, Sports Day Picnic,
and the Prairie Warrior Competition Fund Auction.
Past Chairs of the Board Task Force will
provide feedback to the Chamber chair and president on current community
issues.
Project CLEAN (Community Leaders Enhancing Area
Neighborhoods) will coordinate projects that promote and enhance
beautification in the Minot area.
Right Start Committee will update and facilitate
the Minot community overview presentation at the MAFB orientation event,
which occurs twice a month, and for any other special requests.
Task Force 21 will continue to direct and
coordinate the effort of retention and expansion (additional missions)
of the Minot Air Force Base.
